The Lisburn Linen throw pillows have a classic provincial look and are inspired by antique French sacking material, which has become an icon of the country-chic decor movement. 19th century grain sacks, which were usually hand woven from a long-lasting fabric such as linen or hemp, often featured a personalised coloured stripe. These details were essential in helping a farm or family identify their grain. Some families even embroidered their initials onto the sacks to make them easily identifiable.
These classic cushion covers are woven with a cotton weft and linen warp – fibres praised for their longevity and soft handle. They are woven on our refurbished Ruti shuttle looms, which hail from the 1960s, at our open-to-the public mill in Plettenberg Bay, South Africa.
