Habour Wall Cups

These drinking cups envoke the simple pleasure of sitting on a harbour wall watching the ocean dip and rise. They are perfect for that much needed mid- morning flat white or even a soothing cup of tea on a cold day. Creamy white inner glaze and smooth rimmed. These cups have a sandy tactile outer finish washed with ocean green, a thin band of amber and a pale hint of sea blue.

The handcrafted nature and manner in which these
are made means there will be variations in symmetry, dimensions and glazes. Each item is singular, though similar in shape and size, no two items are identical and colour may vary slightly from the image.

Tungoma pottery items are thrown on a Japanese kick wheel. This is pottery made the slow way. The Ceramicist chose to build his own wheel, it is a Japanese style kick wheel which means it doesn't rely on electricity and is powered instead by kicking it. It requires a different skill set entirely when it comes to throwing clay. It also gives his work even more of a tactile-made-by-the-human-hand feeling.
