Matumi wood slab live edge consol table/server with an oiled finish and a contemporary metal base.
This piece starts as a root or natural wooden slab and ultimately becomes a functional piece of art. This piece is not produced but rather created with the belief that perfection is nature and is beautifully incorporated into contemporary settings.
The matumi is a majestic evergreen tree, which can grow up to 100 ft in height and lives predominantly in riverine forests and along banks of permanent rivers. Its wood, also refered to as 'Woodworkers Friend' is very heavy and hard, with beautiful yellow to light brown colours and is used not only for boats, floors and construction work but also lends itself to the making of fine furniture.
