Lalela scarves feature inspiring designs from young artists in Lalela after school programs. Proceeds from each scarf sale go towards helping young innovators find their voice and overcome the narrative of poverty through the transformative power of arts education.
TedWomen 2019: Bold and Brilliant tasked Lalela learners with a tile project where they were challenged to create an image that represents what being bold and beautiful means to them. Learners from grades 6-12 participated in this opportunity and the works were all stunning.
For this scarf, we chose to join together the works of the learners listed below, though we sense that in the future we will find a way to incorporate the other incredible submissions as all of the artwork from this challenge moved us deeply.
