  • Riverstone Vase

    • Beautiful on its own as a piece of functional art or used as a vase to hold flowers. This one-of-a-kind vase inspired by river stones was hand thrown on a kick- wheel.

All Tungoma vases are weighted and sturdy enough to hold floral stems, sprays of spring flowers fresh or dried.

The handcrafted nature and manner in which these are made means there will be variations in symmetry, dimensions and glazes.

Tungoma pottery items are thrown on a Japanese kick wheel. This is pottery made the slow way. The Ceramicist chose to build his own wheel, it is a Japanese style kick wheel which means it doesn't rely on electricity and is powered instead by kicking it. It requires a different skill set entirely when it comes to throwing clay. It also gives his work even more of a tactile-made-by-the-human-hand feeling.
