  "While flying by helicopter over northern Zululand we saw many traditional Zulu homesteads and farmlands. We followed the winding Pongola River for some time, taking photographs of many interesting scenes. Then far ahead I noticed a pattern on the river sand, and as we passed over I saw a Zulu woman with her child, drying their washing in the sun."
