  • Jimmy Law was born in Bloemfontein in the Orange Free State, South Africa in September 1970. One of four kids, he always had an interest in drawing and making things. After school, Jimmy enrolled to study graphic design at the Technikon of the Orange Free State and upon completeing his studies he was conscripted for National Service with the South African National Defence Force.

As a young man, Jimmy tried a variety of ventures ranging from design and printing in the clothing industry to manufacturing of surfboard and custom airbrushing on cars and motorcycles. All of these ventures was strongly driven by an art and design element. Jimmy worked as a freelance illustrator for corporates in Cape Town for a number of years before he finally decided to leave the corporate world and focus more intensely on a career as an artist.

In December of 2010 Jimmy started to work as a full-time professional artist and painter. He has developed his own style of painting as a self-taught artist. Jimmy has a reputation as one of South Africa’s leading contemporary fine art portrait painters. His expressive, bold and engaging large-format paintings now form part of art collections worldwide and are available as wallpaper in our collection. Visit Jimmy Law’s website.
