Bofred furniture: Wanderlust & beauty combined
When Christa Botha and Carla Erasmus joined forces to found Bofred in Cape Town in 2014, it was their shared love of travel and a background in fine arts that lay at the heart of the project. This sense of wanderlust and appreciation of beauty inspired the pair to establish an independent, female-run furniture and lighting studio in South Africa. Each collection reflects their growth as friends and as designers with each new season of life.

Bofred draws from far-flung wells of inspiration to contribute to the growth and prosperity of skilled Cape Town makers, artisans and manufacturers. Each piece is made by hand in South Africa and many items can be customized to your specification.
A FOCUS ON NATURAL MATERIALS & STORYTELLING
Driven by intuition and concept, the Bofred design methodology is fluid and collection-based, blurring the line between art and furniture. Combining modernist elements with authentic craft and storytelling, Bofred designs celebrate natural materials like wood, clay, stone and metals. Each collection's colors and product names provide insight into the stories and memories that inspired it.
THE VILLA COLLECTION
The Villa Collection is an ode to languid meandering, lingering lunches, the clink of celebratory drinks, icy ocean dips on sun-drenched afternoons, and the hush of a day that slows sweetly as the moon rises over mangroves.
THE BASK COLLECTION
For Bofred, home is an eclectic mix of Durban, South Africa and Muscat in Oman. It's grainy deserts, soft oceans, foamy waves, wind-licked beaches and lime-washed buildings. Home is busy, dusty street corners, vast swaths of muted earth. Thunderstorms. It's cloudless skies, oases of saturated green and horizons cut by jagged peaks.
The Bask Collection is an ode to home - the textures, shapes and color palettes, and the emotions they evoke. This is Muscat and Durban encapsulated in one line, with evident ties to the various landscapes referenced.

As a female founded brand ourselves, we love to support other female creatives. We love that friendship and travel are at the heart of the brand.
