Kerf Hall Table

    • With its unique joinery and use of materials, the Kerf Hall Table is an intrepid piece of design that pushes the ideas of furniture making.

The Kerf Hall Table gets its name from the slit made by cutting with a saw, this is known as the ‘kerf’. The table depends on these kerfs, as the legs and table top are supported by the interlocking brass plates. The brass intersects and crosses through the tops of the each leg adding detail and celebrating the novel joinery.

For Leighton Calder, the process is as important as the final product. The dedication with which each piece is produced demonstrates an appreciation for wood and the fine craft of carpentry. Accordingly, the design philosophy rests in allowing the quality of the wood to speak for itself. The designs are simple, but inspired, as they believe that well-presented wood can be both an object of inspiration and possess a practical independence.
