  • Matumi Nested Live Edge Coffee Table

      • Live Edge coffee tables are a labor of love for founders of Umdabu Robert and Michael. They are passionate about the natural beauty of wood and love the idea of breathing life and value into objects which were previously untouched. They believe that perfection is nature, and love being able to incorporate natural elements into contemporary settings.

The Live Edge Matumi Nested Coffee table features two slabs of Matumi wood as table tops and a contemporary metal base. Crafters leave the original gnarled shape of the edge of a tree and often the knots and cracks too, to give a natural touch in the woodwork and retain its irregular loveliness. Note that due to natural charactersitics of the timber the final product will vary compared to images shown.

Live Edge Coffee tables are made by selecting the perfect piece of wood from the workshop. Umdabu's wood is sourced entirely in Africa and each furniture piece is 100% handcut, sanded and finished at the Umdabu workshop in South Africa. The inspiration for each item comes from its natural beauty.

This "live edge" nested coffee table will be a magnificent centre piece in your living room. The Matumi Nested Coffee table is a timeless work of art and suit most décor styles as it has natural and neutral tones. It brings warmth and life to a room and can add movement and contrast to otherwise straight lines.

The matumi is a majestic evergreen tree, which can grow up to 100 ft in height and lives predominantly in riverine forests and along banks of permanent rivers. Its wood, also refered to as 'Woodworkers Friend' is very heavy and hard, with beautiful yellow to light brown colours and is used not only for boats, floors and construction work but also lends itself to the making of fine furniture.

      • Two Matumi discs both approx 31.5" in diameter. (lower slab: 13.75" H, taller slab:17.75 H)
        Base: 4" x 0.5" flat bar

Beautiful tables but a little unfinished

I love the size and shape of these tables. They are very elegant and finish the room nicely . The only concern is that the edges were not finished or sanded and are quite rough bark in many colors. It would look much better finished as seen in the pictures- I will look into how to have them finished on the edges.

    Beautiful and unique pieces!

We recently purchased 3 different tables from Sarza. They are beautiful! And such unique pieces. John and Sarah were very responsive to any questions I had. I would definitely purchase from Sarza again.

Such awesome feedback Traci - thanks so much! Enjoy your tables :)
